Come and say hello at Your Sound…
31st October 2008
Musicians, artists, professionals working within the music industry, and those of you who just fancy it… come along and enjoy an afternoon of great unsigned and independent music in a relaxed atmosphere; meet like minded people, mingle, chat, share ideas and experiences, raise awareness of your band or service, and network with fellow musicians and industry people alike. Don’t forget to bring along cd’s, business cards and make yourself known at Your Sound!
Recent funding from the Scottish Arts Council’s Youth Music Initiative has given the opportunity to set up Your Sound Academy, offering seminars that will take place from 2 .30 pm – 4pm prior to the main Your Sound event. The first seminar takes place at 2.30pm this Sunday (2nd November) is ‘Marketing Your Band’ and will be attended by key music industry guest speakers who will share their first hand experience and knowledge on subjects such as preparing a press kit and promoting your band. Confirmed industry guest speakers include Feather Brooksbank, Burt Greener, Baseline Graphics and Charm Factory. To book a place, email clare@dfconcerts.co.uk, letting her know who you are, what you do, and why you’d like to come along.
The main Your Sound continues in King Tuts from 4pm – 8pm. Fresh from supporting Mogwai, this month welcomes ERRORS as Guest DJ’s, who have previously featured on the Your Sound playlist and have just released a new album ‘It’s Not Something But It Is Like Whatever’. This month’s Your Sound playlist includes tracks from Joe Hay, Lions. Chase. Tigers., The Ray Summers, Kevin Walls, Y’all Is Fantasy Island, Mitchell Museum, Ya Ya Club, as well as October Artist of the Month ‘My Cousin I Bid You Farewell’, Runners Up ‘Journeybox’ and ‘Any Color Black’, and much more! The November Artist of the Month will receive a free service to the value of £500 with the choice of rehearsal time at Lo-Fi Studios, a PR campaign with Everymatic PR and Management, legal advice with Murray Buchanan, recording time with Terminal Music Studios, or some gear at Guitar Guitar – currently the biggest dealer of Epiphone and Gibson in Scotland!
Don’t forget, when you arrive on Sunday make yourself known to one of the Your Sound Team, then fill out a form to say who you are, what you do, where you’re sitting…this will be pinned to the Your Sound Noticeboard so you can find out who’s actually attending Your Sound, and means that any bands or industry people arriving know exactly who you are. Look out for a 32Music representative and come and say ‘hello’.
